A good piece doesn’t ask for much — but the little it asks for matters. Here is the short, honest version we used to give across the counter.
01
Light
If yours is a Citizen Eco-Drive, any light keeps it running — a desk lamp, a window seat, an overcast Tuesday. There is no battery to change; a watch left in a drawer for months simply wants some daylight before it’s asked to keep time again.
02
Water
Water resistance is a rating, not an invitation. After salt water, rinse the watch in fresh water and dry it. Keep it out of hot water and steam — showers, hot tubs, saunas — because heat is harder on seals than depth ever is.
03
Fit
A bracelet should leave room for one finger between the band and your wrist — snug enough not to rattle, loose enough not to mark. If yours isn’t sitting right, reply to this email and we’ll point you to sizing help.
No. 04 — If it’s jewellery
A soft cloth after wearing is most of the job. Store pieces separately — gold marks gold, and stones scratch settings — and keep perfume, hairspray and chlorine away from plated and stone-set pieces. Jewellery goes on last in the morning and comes off first at night.
