Here’s a thing worth knowing before you buy a watch anywhere, including here. Search any model number and you’ll find it offered a dozen ways — marketplaces, importers, sellers you’ll never speak to. Most of those watches took an undocumented route to the listing. The trade calls it the grey market.

Nothing dramatic happens to most of them. But you’re buying on hope: hope the piece is what the photo says, hope the seller answers if it isn’t, hope someone stands behind it a year from now. A jeweller removes the hope from that sentence.

What authorized means, in practice
